“We immediately tried to get rid of this life to find out what was going on,” said the head of the American Animal Hospital Association, Keith Chamberlain said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, the phone lines were sitting, and the email questions came back saying that in addition to this life staff they were heard about the problem and were working through issues. After continuous search failures, we make the decision to Disconnect them from the AAHA search tool, and we are encouraging pets owners to contact their veterinarian to determine if they should re-control their microchip with another register.
While there is no data on how many pets are microciped, AMVA claims only six out of 10 microchips are recorded.

Those who had registered pets registered in this life “don’t have to worry – chips can be registered with a new company using the same chip,” Brian Lippai, Chief of Administrative Services with Department of Ocean district health, told Asbury Park Press.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, a microchip is a small, electronic device for identifying radio frequency (RFID) that is closed in a glass cylinder the size of a grain of rice. Dog and cat owners record their personal information on the chip through a registration database.
The microchip itself does not have a battery – only activated when scanned. If a lost animal is found, a veterinarian or a shelter can scan them for a chip, which will transmit the identification number to the scanner and provide the owners’ information.
